ANCIENT CITY OF XANTHOS

Xanthos is an ancient Lycian city located within the borders of Burdur district of Antalya province in southern Turkey. Xanthos, an important settlement in the Lycian region, has a great historical and archaeological richness.

Xanthos Ancient City is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The ancient city includes an archaeological site with ancient theatre, agora (bazaar), temples, walls and other structures among its ruins. Xanthos was the scene of the interaction of many civilisations in antiquity and was captured and destroyed several times throughout its history.
